We did this once in our Homall gaming chair vs DXRacer comparison. We’re back again, except this time we’ll be comparing Homall gaming chairs vs Respawn gaming chairs.
We’ve picked two of the most popular Homall and Respawn chairs. In this post, we’ll be putting them head-to-head to determine how similar they are and if one edges out the other.

Homall Gaming Chair
One thing is certain when it comes to gaming chairs: they can get absurdly expensive. In a world where a small (and oftentimes uncomfortable) chair can dig gashes into your wallet, the Homall Gaming Chair is a solid option for those on a budget. It comes in a range of colors and is highly adjustable, from its height to its tilt.
Respawn Racing Style Gaming Chair
For all you get from it, the Respawn Racing Style Gaming Chair isn’t a bad cost, either. It’s got ample padding in the seat and the lack of wings on the sides makes it great for spreading out or sitting cross-legged. Plus, it’s got padding in the armrests to protect your elbows from getting sore.
Similarities
Multiple Color Options
Colors won’t be the most important part of your gaming chair, but there’s still no denying that they matter. You might have spent time, money, and effort cultivating the perfectly immersive atmosphere in your gaming room.
That’s when the color of a gaming chair – which tends to be a relatively costly piece of furniture – comes into play. If you’re going to invest more in something, it might as well match with the décor you already have.
That’s where both the Homall and Respawn chairs in this post excel. Either one will give you several different color options, and more likely than not, one of those colors would be the perfect visual fit for your space.
360-Degree Swivel
It’s pretty much a given with gaming chairs, but both the Homall and Respawn models in this comparison can turn around 360 degrees. Honestly, it’s not a big deal, but it’s still undeniably convenient.
We couldn’t even imagine not having a chair that could spin around. Getting out from your desk and turning to face a tv or friend would be huge pains. So although you can assume most gaming chairs these days have this feature, we still thought it was worth mentioning.
Neck and Lumbar Pillows
If you’ve spent a lot of time in gaming or even office chairs, then you’ve felt the dull ache that sets into your back and shoulders when the chair doesn’t provide you enough support. Whether you’re playing a game, doing work, or just browsing the internet, you should be totally comfortable.
That’s why both the Homall and Respawn chairs have lumbar and neck pillows. Frankly, like with the 360-degree swivel, this is another standard feature. You won’t find many (if any) gaming chairs that don’t have these pillows.
However, they’re also worth mentioning because they can make a huge difference in comfort. While we can’t say they’ll completely eliminate back and neck pain, they go a long way towards making you feel a bit cozier.

Tilt Locking
Sometimes, you just want to lay back for a moment and rest after spending hours staring at a screen. The good news is that either of these chairs will allow you to do that – and they can lock into place, preventing that annoying thing where your chair flies up into your back the moment you sit up slightly.
Some people will even take cat naps in their gaming chairs. Being able to lock your chair into a tilt will make that possible for you if you’re the kind of person who likes to get a quick forty winks in between games or on breaks during the workday.
Materials
Both these chairs are made from a combination of faux leather, metal, and plastic. This is another thing that is par for the course when it comes to gaming chairs.
For the most part, these materials are reasonably sturdy. The biggest gripe we have about PU leather is how it can stick to your skin if you sit in it for longer periods of time, so you might want to be careful about how often you wear shorts when you sit in your chair.
Overall Aesthetic
Another thing these chairs have in common is that, at a glance, you might not even be able to tell them apart. They have some slightly different detailing in the stripes on the seat and back, but for the most part, they look quite similar.
Racing chairs tend to cut silhouettes that are a lot alike. Thus, if you like the look of one, you’ll probably like the look of most of them.
Both the Respawn and Homall chairs have a sleek and graceful sort of look. We will say, though, that the Respawn’s seat is looking significantly more comfortable than the Homall’s – which we’ll get into later.
Ergonomic Design
We don’t know about you for sure, but we can say without a doubt that we spend a lot of time in our chairs. That’s why we understand the importance of choosing a chair with ergonomic design that encourages good posture and supports you.
Either the Homall or the Respawn chair are satisfactory in that regard. A number of features come together to determine how ergonomic they are, including things like support pillows, the ability to tilt back, and adjustability.
Differences
Weight Capacity
In our post about the best gaming chairs that can hold over 300 lbs, we discussed the importance of weight capacity in gaming chairs. Whether or not you actually weigh 300 or more pounds, a chair with a higher weight limit can simply feel sturdier.
When it comes to weight limit, the Homall gaming chair is the winner in this battle. With a 300-pound capacity, it can hold 25 more pounds than the Respawn can.
Again, this might not matter to you if those weight limits are above you. Regardless, we personally like the stability of a chair that can hold more.
Seat Shape
One of the first things we noticed about these chairs is the shape of the seats. The Homall chair has these curved wings on the sides, while the Respawn chair is totally flat.
In our article about the best gaming chairs for wide hips, we talked about how the flat shape is so much better for comfort. You can sit cross-legged or if you spread your legs out a bit, you won’t have the wings pressing awkwardly into your thighs.
For that reason, we’re saying the Respawn’s seat shape wins in this part of the comparison.
Dimensions
The overall size of the chairs is another aspect in which they differ. On Homall’s side, you’ve got a chair that measures at 19.8 inches long, 20.5 inches wide, and 47.8 inches tall.
In comparison, the Respawn measures at 28.5 inches long, 28 inches wide, and 51.5 inches tall. Put simply, it’s a bit bigger. It’s wider and taller, so although it doesn’t support as much weight, it’s probably the better option for you if you’re a tall person.
Respawn Racing Style Gaming Chair Padded Armrests
Your arms are something you probably don’t pay much attention to when you consider purchasing a gaming or office chair. Most people tend to focus on how comfortable a chair is for your back, shoulders, and butt.
But your arms are going to be up actually using your computer or console, so they might as well be comfy. That’s what makes the Respawn’s padded armrests so nice.
Having to dig your elbows into hard plastic for hours is simply unpleasant. That’s one of the weak points for the Homall chair, which only has flat armrests.
Homall Gaming Chair Rocking Function
If you’ve ever sat in a rocking chair before, you’ll understand how strangely soothing the rocking motion is. There’s probably some sort of deep-seated psychological reason for that, but the point is, rocking can be relaxing, especially if you’re trying to work out some nervous energy in place.
With the Homall gaming chair, you can rock if you want to. No need to worry about falling over or the chair locking into place, due to its included rocking function.
That way, if your teammates are stressing you out in a game or work is making you want to pull your hair out, you can work out some of that tension by rocking.
Respawn Racing Style Gaming Chair Footrest
Want to kick back for a moment in your chair? You’ll need a footrest, otherwise you’ll be awkwardly bending back with your legs on the floor. Or we guess you could get a mini ab workout by holding them in the air by yourself – in which case, that’s impressive.
Anyway, the Respawn chair won’t make you get that ab routine in if you don’t want to. It has a retractable footrest under the seat that you can pull out to rest your legs on. Perhaps best of all, the footrest comes attached to the bottom of the seat already, so that’s one less thing to worry about during assembly.
The Verdict: Which Chair Should You Game In?
Now we can get to the meat and potatoes of this post. Which chair would we recommend from the two in this comparison?
There are honestly reasons why you would pick either one. For instance, you might spring for the Homall gaming chair if weight limits are a bigger concern for you.
Similarly, the Homall is the pick for you if you want a chair that’s easy to rock back and forth in. This isn’t important to everyone, but we know at least one person on our team enjoys having a chair to rock in.
Overall, however, we think the Respawn edges out the Homall. Its seat is shaped in such a way as to be more comfortable and it’s larger in size. The slight size increase gives you a wee bit more wiggle room should you ever need it.
Additionally, the padded armrests on the Respawn could be a lifesaver. Take it from people who’ve had to buy armrest padding to make our own chairs more comfortable.
